Here’s our saga. The 10 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll be taking a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humour. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Saturday against Inter Milan at Munich’s Allianz Arena in the final of the Champions League 2024-2025 (kick-off 9pm, CET).
5 – Ousmane Dembélé on his way to the Ballon d’Or?
As we’ve already said, the Ballon d’Or is far from being our priority. We much prefer collective titles. But this famous trophy is already widely talked about (for a result in September) and we know that these big evenings logically count.
If Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old striker) is to win it, it will have to be in this final. Admittedly, it would be particularly tasty after Kylian Mbappé’s departure for Real Madrid, which should enable him to win the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or after having been “slowed down” in Paris.
4 – After that, it’s almost over.
There’s still the Club World Cup, which may or may not be of interest, after a 15-day break with international matches. We’re coming to the end of this 2024-2025 season, which has been so strong and exciting to follow for PSG. Paris can follow on from there, but there’s always the risk that the momentum won’t be as good. So it’s time to savour the moment.
3 – Luis Enrique’s last great choices.
All season long, there have been debates and doubts about Luis Enrique’s composition choices. This continues, particularly in the attacking sector, with Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia all seemingly in place to accompany Ousmane Dembélé. For this final, everything is and will be deconstructed.
2 – The show is promised.
PSG played a great game, with a remarkable collective spirit. Inter Milan, too, have great tactical and mental qualities. All of this with a focus on attacking ideas, even if a few adaptations are possible. We know that a final can be tense and more closed than we’d hoped, but we can be sure that there will be plenty of chances in this clash. The pace and spectacle will be there.
1 – Living and writing history.
There’s a lot to stress, but the obvious is there. This is a Champions League final, a rare evening to be experienced by every club. What’s more, PSG are one match away from their first title in this competition. It’s great to have this milestone to look forward to. A moment to savour to the full. And, of course, we’ll be hoping for victory in the end.
