Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Saturday against Nantes (16th) at the Parc des Princes as part of Matchday 13 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 9pm, PSG/Nantes broadcast on DAZN in France).
5 – Getting back into the swing of things so as not to get stuck in the disappointment of the LDC
It’s hard to get back into the swing of things in Ligue 1 for many fans, who only see PSG’s season through a European prism. Yet it is in Ligue 1 that the club is building its future.
So it’s a safe bet that the players will be ready to get the ball rolling again, with the prospect of staying alive in European competition. For that, a good result against Nantes is essential to boost confidence.
4 – Expected changes.
We know that changes will be made, that’s Luis Enrique’s trademark. However, it is important to point out that the changes expected are not necessarily those practiced by the Spanish coach.
We’re expecting more of an attacking awareness, in the risks taken in transitions, but also in the choice of men, which will be important.
While Kolo Muani has not been very good over the last few months with PSG, it cannot be said that Ousmane Dembélé or Bradley Barcola have particularly shone. Perhaps it’s time to reshuffle the deck.
3 – Safonov or Donnarumma?
For many fans, it makes no difference. According to X specialists (ex-twitter), both goalkeepers have the same qualities and flaws. However, nobody really knows Safonov, and everyone forgets that Donnarumma has already proved that he can be important to the team.
Only Luis Enrique and his staff can take the pulse of the situation. In any case, Safonov’s performance doesn’t speak in his favor. Donnarumma should be back in goal, unless Luis Enrique has gone in a different direction with his goalkeepers.
2 – Ramos and Kimpembe in the squad and on the pitch?
We’ve already seen Ramos for a few minutes against Bayern Munich, and we’re clearly hoping to see him again with a dominant PSG to show his qualities and start building his confidence.
We’ll need him for the rest of the season. Even if it’s not much of a consolation prize, it’s good to have the only true number 9 among the players present at the Parc des Princes on Saturday evening.
As far as Kimpembe is concerned, it seems a little early to start him, but as we often say, a player in the squad has to be able to play, even if it’s only for 5 minutes. Kimpembe could then return to the pitch after a very long ordeal.
1 – Back to the Parc des Princes/New speaker/New start
It’s always good to get back to your home stadium. It’ll be good to get back into the swing of things, especially against Nantes, a historic but affordable opponent.
We want to see goals, enjoyment and desire, and above all not a team that’s dragging its spleen. A team’s strength lies in its ability to bounce back, and this Saturday we want to see a PSG team that continues to fight, because nothing is lost in the Champions League.
PSG may have lost to a good Bayern Munich side, but they didn’t lose out, so Nantes has been warned: PSG may be sick in Europe, but they’re still the kings of Ligue 1.
