A true metronome in Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield, Vitinha, now 25 years old, is also taking on an increasingly important role within the dressing room. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese midfielder spoke about the rise of the Parisian “Titis,” made possible by Luis Enrique, the club’s head coach.
“They impress me with their personality, despite their young age and the fact that they come from the academy. They help maintain a high level of quality, focus, and competitiveness.”
The youngsters from the academy have become a major part of the project over the past three seasons. Several talents such as Warren Zaïre-Emery and Senny Mayulu have already become integral players in Luis Enrique’s plans.
This is clearly a positive message for the academy. It shows that the first team is accessible, and that anyone, by putting in the necessary work, can hope to wear the Parisian colours in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
