This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) take on Olympique de Marseille (2nd) at the Parc des Princes for the 26th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 8:45pm, UTC+1). This Thursday, former Parisian Jérôme Rothen spoke out in Rothen S’enflamme, and doesn’t believe in victory for Roberto de Zerbi’s team.
Rothen “The weakest team can always win”.
“The weakest team can always win. But PSG normally run the table and score three or four goals a game in Ligue 1. OM have a one-in-ten chance of winning, a one-in-ten chance of drawing, and an eight-in-ten chance of losing. That’s my prediction. If the main man, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, is injured… If he’s not there to reassure this team, I say good luck to OM.
As for Paris, Luis Enrique’s management is perfect. He won’t be fielding the same team as against Liverpool, but it will still be very competitive, with players who are hungry. PSG are an armada. They’re conditioned to hurt their opponents.”
It’s true that, at the moment, PSG are hard to beat. Hope may lie in the aftermath of the Liverpool match, which could see the Parisians a little “deconcentrated”. That’s if we look coldly at the Champions League performance, which is more important than a Ligue 1 match, in which PSG have a 16-point lead.
That said, on Sunday it’s OM who face the Parisians, and it’s hard to see how Paris can take this match lightly against the number 1 rival. The crowd will be buzzing after the great qualification against Liverpool.
