Mohamed Salah, the 32-year-old Egyptian striker whose contract with Liverpool expires next June, has been rumoured to be in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain. At the beginning of the week, there was even talk of discussions taking place, before denials were issued. The rumour this Friday is more along the lines of a signing of an extension at Liverpool. At least, that’s what the Daily Mail is saying.
Mohamed Salah is close to PROLONGING at Liverpool!
Salah has received a more convincing offer from Liverpool, thanks in part to the possible departure of Alexander-Arnold, which would lighten the wage bill.
Do you think Salah should stay at Liverpool?
We remain cautious, as this is not an official announcement. But it’s an outcome that’s been on the cards from the start, and one that wouldn’t come as a surprise. Rather, it was a PSG signing that was out of the question. Even if it didn’t seem totally unthinkable. And it still isn’t, because there’s nothing official yet.
All the same, it seems wiser to focus on other issues, other leads. It’s quite possible that PSG got involved in Salah’s case mainly to put pressure on the negotiations. Or simply to “spice up” the rumour mill in the media. We should see more soon.
