Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is not an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Saturday against Saint-Etienne (17th) at Stade Geoffroy Guichard as part of the 27th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 7pm, UTC+1).
5 – Regain momentum.
The international break is always a break in the season, and it was particularly so for PSG in an excellent period. The task will therefore be to get back into the swing of things straight away and rediscover the automatisms needed to put in another string of great team performances.
It will be interesting to see if the Parisians can find their feet straight away. It won’t be easy, but it would be a fine demonstration of this team’s certainty.
4 – A composition difficult to guess, but undoubtedly interesting.
After the international break, before a French Cup semi-final against Dunkerque (4th in Ligue 2) for which we don’t know to what extent coach Luis Enrique intends to rotate the team, and in the management of the latter, it’s hard to know who will start.
There’s a need for rest and rhythm, as well as the desire to put in another fine performance. We’re sure there’ll be a fine team, but we’re keen to see exactly which one.
3 – Tension versus tranquillity.
Paris has a large lead in Ligue 1, but can quickly be caught out in its serenity if there isn’t enough concentration. Saint-Etienne have not a single point to lose in their battle for survival. All the more reason to expect a high level of intensity. It’s up to the Parisians to take this match seriously and come up with the right response.
2 – Back to work at last!
It was only an international break, but it seemed like a long time since PSG had been in such good shape and used to playing since the start of 2025. It was strange not to see him play for 2 weeks. So let’s make the most of this comeback, with the start of the season’s final sprint.
1- The Ligue 1 title tonight?
It would almost be a shame, given that Parisian fans are banned from travelling. But PSG can be champions tonight. To do so, 2nd-placed Olympique de Marseille must lose at Reims at 5pm and Pars must win at Saint-Etienne. It’s far from a done deal, but it’s entirely possible. An important moment not to be missed.
