Paris Saint-Germain lost 2-1 to Strasbourg this Saturday at the Stade de la Meinau as part of the 32nd day of Ligue 1 2024-2025. Speaking to PSG TV on the sidelines of the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique reflected on his players’ performance.
Enrique “I must congratulate the players.”
“I think it was a very tight game between two sides who want to play in the Champions League next season. We started the game with four Titis, so I think we played a very good game. We were in trouble, but I have to congratulate the players.”
Enrique “we didn’t get the result we wanted.
“I’m very proud of the young players, they showed their level. It’s not easy to play against this Strasbourg team. They have a lot of quality and experience. We played a very good game, but we didn’t get the result we wanted. Now we need to recover and concentrate on Wednesday’s game.”
Unfortunately, between two such important Champions League matches, and against a team that still has everything to play for, it was difficult for PSG to rise to the occasion. Although the second half was far superior to the first, it was unfortunately not enough for the Parisians to get back on level terms. This was mainly due to a difference in efficiency, as Paris dominated (20-9, 64% possession).
The positive point was the presence of the young players, who nevertheless put in an interesting performance, particularly in terms of intensity. It’s now difficult to draw any conclusions from this kind of match. All heads are already turned to the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, to be held this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes.
