This Saturday, as part of the 33rd day of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain faced Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson. After a match in which the Reds and Blues put on a good show despite the rotation, they won 1-4 (video highlights Montpellier/PSG). Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Arnau Tenas (7) – An interesting match for a keeper playing his first Ligue 1 match this season. Irreproachable for the goal he conceded, he pulled off a number of good saves. The Spaniard also made 2 excellent passes. One was almost decisive for Barcola (he shot against the bar) and the second was decisive for Ramos’ 3rd goal.
Defenders –
Senny Mayulu (7) – A very interesting game from the Titi, who opened the scoring with a fine shot before setting up the second goal with a well-weighted through ball. He filled Achraf Hakimi’s usual role well.
Axel Tape (7) – First a central defender then a midfielder, he showed a certain ease in duels and with the ball. Of course, he still needs to fine-tune certain choices and positioning.
Lucas Beraldo (6) – Generally serene and solid, but had a few problems going deep and picked up a yellow card.
Lucas Hernandez (6) – Aggressive and calm in the build-up, but sometimes struggled at the back and with a lively approach to the ball.
Midfielders –
Warren Zaïre-Emery (6.5) – With good defensive returns and some excellent passes, he was more enterprising than of late. He also made a fine, if perhaps unintentional, assist.
Lee Kang-In (5.5) – Capable of some fine passes, he sometimes lacks a little impact. But he’s doing pretty well in his new midfield role.
Désiré Doué (3.5) – Struggles when he loses the ball, but loses it a lot. Sometimes by “forcing” too much. We’ve seen him more inspired. But he won a penalty just before going off. Replaced in the 59th minute by Noham Kamara.
Forwards –
Ibrahim Mbaye (6.5) – Very lively, a real threat and the decisive pass for Gonçalo Ramos. He now needs to become more effective in order to break new ground, as he could have scored.
Gonçalo Ramos (8.5) – A complicated first half with few balls. He then scored a hat-trick, including a superb goal, not to mention some excellent passes for his team-mates. This match could do him good.
Bradley Barcola (3) – Little success for Barcola, who hit the bar with his big chance. He’s still trying as hard as ever, but he’s losing a lot of balls. He was clearly unhappy on his way out, and we hope he’ll use that anger to get a reaction. Replaced in the 69th minute by Yoram Zague.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (8) – There’s great management of the team, with rest for some and game time for others. The whole team remains coherent, always playing the same way. A strong team.
