Xavi Simons, the 21-year-old striker/midfielder under contract at Paris Saint-Germain until 2027, has been loaned back to RB Leipzig for the 2024-2025 season after a long wait. It’s without an option to buy, so the future remains wide open. David Ornstein (The Athletic) gave us the lowdown this Friday evening.
“Xavi Simons transfer fee set at 80M minimum!
Leipzig, BVB, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern, Liverpool and Real Madrid are interested!
PSG has all the options. No decision has been taken, but Luis Enrique could well keep him!
David Ornstein.”
It’s good for PSG to have a multitude of choices, like keeping him. In any case, the sale will be for a large sum of money, if that is the option chosen by all parties. This dossier is very vague, and we don’t know Luis Enrique’s intentions, nor those of the player.
Simons is still highly regarded throughout Europe, and that’s where this case becomes interesting. First and foremost, we’ll need to know what the player’s wishes are, as he has so far made no sign of wanting to play for PSG, even though he has signed a new contract. To be continued.
